There's definetly not an ATI issue as the ATI symbol is on the back on the box!

I get this lag too except for me its people teleporting around.

P.S. I wish I had that kind of storage computer!

Maybe it's your BIOS? People seem to have success changing them around

Default Lag

Lag problems appeared for me VERY suddenly about 3 days ago. No changes in my PC, no driver updates, no nothing. About the same time, I've also discovered a minimum of 2 other issues. First, in playing in groups of human players, casting some spells that OUGHT to work just fine, I get an "Invalid Spell target" message. Finally, after trying to recast about 5 or 6 times, it finally accepts the spell command for some unknown reason. This began happening, also about 3 days ago. Second, quests that a group of humans play together, especially item-related missions, only one person in the group gets a mission success even though all fulfill its requirements. This happens more multiple missions. It forced the group to refight the mission up to 4 times, if 4 humans are playing the mission!! None of these issues occurred with 2 human player missions in pre-Searing, or for that matter in post-Searing.

LAG is still the #1 issue, no doubt, however, but about 3 days ago, SOMETHING happened to this game! Arena.net, please look into your netcode situation! There's something seriously flawed that you had perfect during the first week of release! This is happening across multiple PC platforms with many different configurations, connection types, operating systems, and drivers. What's more, none of these problems were happening more than about 3 days ago! Question is: what did Arena.net do to its server farms, especially the Euro and International 'district' servers. Don't know about N. American ones, as I've been playing with friends in Europe.

Need confirmation of LIKE-problems from others on this forum. Thanks. Only want this game to succeed & lag like this will KILL it!

Respectfully,

Dave Farrow

After trolling a couple of GW tech boards for several days, I no longer feel like the "lag" is server-response related. Like Avarii, I do strongly suspect that some bad code was put into production some time after the game went live, as many people were playing fine and then went to hell in a handbasket. I am starting to see a vague pattern that suggests some type of memory addressing error(s), possibly limited to certain RAM configurations or maybe mobo chipset configurations.

BZR, what are the differences in RAM between your two computers? I.E., one 1GB DIMM, two 512MB DIMMs...if two or more DIMMs in one computer, are they the same brand? Same speed? ECC or non-ECC?

Also, what are the differences in mobos: brand, chipsets (VIA, Nforce, etc.)?

thanks for the replies

i love the storage computer
it is my back up or nice for having buddies over for games

in the storage computer i have ddr 2700

in my game computer i have pc3200

my game computer was made to handle the games

if iwas to guess what the lag problem was i'd say it is not clearing out the memory fast enough. and it is not a internet problem.
my lag begin 3- 5 mins after loading every time.
i continue to lag every 20 seconds there after
and continues till i get mad and turn off the game.

but i have seen alot of people complain about this but no devs have offered and good ways to fix this.

for me this is a waste of money and stil not happy about buying a game and not being able to play it.
i might as well have my old 200mhz computer ( at least i could get it to play thief )

I'm on an Alienware with 6800ultra, 1gig 533 ram, Duel SATA on raid 0, p4 3.46x..

and I get that strange teleporting around, especially when I chose a new target that is some distance away..., or when trying to cut the corner of a path.. and getting stuck on invincible walls.. sometimes it 'clips' through it.. then teleports you back.

Its very strange but I dont think its lag, packet loss maybe?

definatly not a computer performance issue either, though i should imagine it to be more of a headache on a slower computer.

Also the NPC's seem to clip through the scenery on resurect node.. and messes up your quest.. very frustrating, please fix it devs

The Snowman.

That's all bs, there is no need to do such a thing. It'll be able to connect anyway, nobody is supposed to connect to you through that port.
